THREE POEMS
TAUPO VIEW
the house is settled
in its ways
and won't change
now
the marmalade cat
makes himself
comfortable
on a known lap
marmalade sky fades
over the hill
  signalling
across the lake
one room is contained
in a red glass vase
as night
between the streetlight and the
open door
makes itself comfortable
in another double bed
SIGHTING
on a still day
deserted beach
once the clouds had removed the sun
leaving a streak
of silver
out to sea
  a shadow
  three masted
silhouette
I thought
It might be Captain Cook
and it's all going to happen again
FUTURES
the unsecured past is
climbing the porch support
preening in its
mother's best nightdress
determined to ensure
a full return fills every
chair around the table
walls and windows have been
fallen from
there are soldiers
buried in the garden
cupboards cling to leftover
artefacts
keyboards
things
whose eviction demands a
conference call
my phone is a direct line
my investments drive cars
achieve
or not
secure
a holding in futures
tower above me
return
a certain dividend
