REALISATION

Contemplating things philosophical
I was interrupted by your passing
- your jacket trailing across the floor
in the fashion of a confident matador...
in a quickening, flickering passion.

And in that wondrous moment
when you came
I realised in your open eyes
all I know and all I need to know.

MATAI BAY

The earth inhales
The crescent sea sighs
retreats across surrussant sand,
then slaps back in reprimand.
For one divine, demented moment
all is still: even our breath in perfect arrest
on the crisp cusp of the night,
as the suttee moon lowers herself
into the pyre of the rising day.

HAIKU FOR GENSANG

Enscarpment soars behind...
Chincogan salves the heart...
Clouds let loose the rain...

Rosellas riot in colour...
raucous at their catch game
Kookaburras laugh...

Siblant palms fan the spirit...
Listen go the silence...
Serene Sakura.

CATCH CRY

Insomniac and walking late
I caught the high, keening, heaving cry
of a woman at her pleasure

At once enchanted, I stopped;
rejoiced; was both glad
and instantly erect.
