Poem

      SWEETIE BOY'S JOURNEY

      For Sweetie Groth

      Shimmering white and glistening coal
      Purring sweetly on my knee
      Listening with a half-closed eye
As I croon my kitty tunes
Soon we'll part and you will go
      To the land of Not-yet-know

Great green eyes take one last look
To those you gave more than you took
One last journey now you take
      To the place of Go-alone
Where you join those joys of God
To become one of his own

Small white blaze above black nose
Next to which I place a rose
Round your neck a scarlet bow
Dressed for travel in stroked coat
I'm here in my lonely chair
      Knowing I'm in Not-yet-there

      You flick your tail contentedly
      In the land of Yet-to-be
Where you'll rest upon Joe's lap
      Taking your eternal nap
And you'll lie against my breast
Where my soul will be your nest
