About the Authors

JULES LEIGH KOCH was born in Sydney in 1958 and raised in Adelaide. Presently a part time School Service Officer at Ashfield Special School and a parent. Has lived and worked as agardener, house parent, farmhand and in childcare and also lived and worked on the North Island of New Zealand. Founding member of the Kensington / Norwood writing group in 1986 and along time member of the SA Writers Centre. he has been published in Redoubt, Matoid, Southerly, Hermes and Going Down Swinging.
BARRY SOUTHAM: Lives and writes in Auckland, New Zealand. Has had many poems and stories published internationally, three plays produced, two collections of poetry and a collection of stories. He is also a television actor, journalist and theatre reviewer.
ADRIAN Manning: Lives and writes in Leicester, UK. Has had poetry published in a number of magazines, in print and on-line.
ALFRED NIESSEN: An expatriot New Zealander who has been living in Europe for the last ten years. After graduating in English Literature and Art History from Albertus Magnus University he now lives, writes, translates and consumes, in Cologne.
PATRICIA KLASSEN: aged 24, hails from "all over" BC (British Colombia, Canada). She has been writing since elementary school. She is an amateur photographer as well as a writer.
ANDREW CLARK: is a 30 year old Air Force officer living in Auckland, New Zealand. He has travelled widely and while in Australia won second prize in the Victoria short story competition.
IAN IRVINE: is an Australian poet/lyricist, writer, academic and psychotherapist. He is also co-editor of The Animist electronic journal of the arts. Recently he was awarded a Ph.D for his work on chronic ennui in European literature, philosophy and sociology. He teaches at, among other places, La Trobe University, Bendigo, Victoria.
PATRICIA PRIME: Lives in Auckland, New Zealand. Well kmnown for her Haiku and Haliban poetry, her work has been in various anthologies (including "Haiku Anthology" reviewed in this issue).
SETH ABRAMSON: Lives in Cambridge, Massachusetts and attends Haevard Law School as a first year student. Has had poems appearing in The Melic Review, Savoy Magazine, Limestone Magazine, and Eclectica.
TREVOR REEVES: Editor and Publisher of Southern Ocean Review and poet - writer of short stories that have appeared in print and electronic magazines widely.
KIRSTI SHIELDS: is 28, from England, now living in Canada with her husband. She spent some time in Japan and and India and is obsessive about travel. She originally trained as a biochemist and now works as an occupational therapist with children with special needs.
DIANA H Forrester: Lives and writes in ohio, in the USA.
MICHAEL GRABER: works as a professional editor in his native Memphis, and as an instructor of Lit and CW at the University of Memphis. Has published verse, songs, plays, creative non-fiction, reviews and interviews. Work forthcoming in a number of periodicals. Is 29, married with three children.
PEGGY TAHIR: lives and works in San Francisco and Sonoma County. Has an MA in English. Has published (chapbook) Tarot Meditations and has a selection of poems in a small press anthology, Hybrid Fire ( 5 women poets - 1981). Has poems appearing in magazines in the SF area.
DAVID GREGORY: is a Christchurch (NZ) based poet whose first book of poems Always Arriving was published in 1998. His work is widely published in New Zealand and overseas and he is active in the promotion of poetry in Christchurch.
GRAEME COLLINS Musician, composer and writer living in Wellington, New Zealand.
RICHARD HILLMAN: was born in Liverpool, NSW, Australia, in 1964, and is a full time writer and phychotherapist. He is a social rights activist. Has is completing an MA is creative writing at Adelaide University. Has been published extensively in journals throughout Australia, and has two collections of poetry published.
A. D. WINANS: Former editor and publisher of the literary magazine, Second Coming. Has had poems and other writing published in over 300 magazines worldwide and has published books of poems, biography The Charles Bukowski/Second Coming Years and criticism. Recently, "Folk Heroes" (reviewed in this issue). Al lives in San Francisco, USA.
EMILY DOBSON: is a student aged 18, from Kereru, Hawkes Bay, New Zealand. Presently on her Big OE, in Europe. Has won piizes for creative writing prior to her departure.
TONY BEYER: Teaches at Auckland Grammar, Auckland New Zealand. His poetry has appeared in many journals and anthologies since 1971. Has also published a number of collections. Earlier, Jesus Hobo and The Meat, then Dancing Bear, The Singing Ground and Brute Music. and lately, The Century, and The Male Voice. A a short on line collection of his work is due soon to appear on Southern Ocean Review, and in print.

JUDITH WOLFE lives in Dunedin, New Zealand. She is an artist, designer and sculptor. She has exhibited widely throughout New Zealand and some of her works have been in travelling exhibitions overseas. Recent exhibitions at the Empire Cinema, guest artist at the Wanaka Art Group Exhibition, August 1997 and exhibited in the Warbirds Over Wanaka air show exhibition, Easter, 1998, and the Cleveland Art Awards, Dunedin, October 1998.
