About the Authors

SARA McAULEY is the author of three novels and numerous stories and essays. She lives in the San Francisco Bay area, in California, USA, and teaches at the California State University, Hayward. She no longer rides motorcycles.
SHELLY JACOBS has been writing fiction since 1990. She lives in England.
JUDE ROY is a misplaced cajun living and teaching English in Springfield, Missouri. His work has appeared in The Southern Review, American Short Fiction, and National Public Radio. He has poetry appearing in upcoming issues of Prism International and Zuzu's Petal Quarterly.
MARY CRESSWELL is a retired science editor and technical editor and proofreader. From California, now lives in Wellington New Zealand. Began writing stories in 1997.
DAVID HARPER is a poet who lives in San Miguel Allende, Mexico.
LEANNE RADOJKOVICH has had stories broadcast on National Radio, the School Journal, New Women's Fiction, Takahe, NZ Women's Weekly, Other Voices and Broadsheet. A novel and a short story have been shortlisted for the Reed Fiction Award. Lives in New Zealand.
MAELI WONG grew up in the East and then west USA. Received undergraduate degree in English Literature at Wheaton College, Illinois and Masters in Creative Writing at the University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee.
GRAEME COLLINS Musician, composer and writer living in Wellington, New Zealand.
CHARLOTTE ROBERTSON lives in Toowoomba, Australia. She is a school student who eventually wants to become a photographic journalist.
BARRY SPACKS has published seven books of poetry. Also a novelist, librettist, singer-songwriter. He taught literature at M.I.T. 1960-81. Now lives in Junction City, CA, USA.
LINDSAY SMITH lives in Rockhampton, Australia and is originally from New Zealand. Studied music and is a physical arts specialist. Poems published widely, and a collection, Skyhook, 1971.
JOHN ALLISON: The featured poet in Poetry NZ #14. A collection of recent poems, Both Roads Taken recently published. John is a teacher in Lyttleton, NZ. His poems have appeared in NZ, Australia, the UK and USA.
RANGI FAITH (Ngai Tahu) Born Timaru, New Zealand. Books, "Unfinished Crossword", Hazard Press. Edited 'Dangerous Landscapes' Longman Paul 1994, printed in Homeland (Manoa magazine, University of Hawaii, 1997). Appeared in Poetry New Zealand, Te Ao Marama 5, etc.
JOHN O'CONNOR lives in Christchurch, New Zealand. A well-known poet with several collections and widely published. Organises poetry readings in Christchurch.
KAREN P BUTTERWORTH is a freelance writer living in Otaki, New Zealand. Her work has been published in several journals.
JANET BUCK teaches writing and literature at college level in the USA. Her homepage has received over 30 awards. Her poems have been published widely.
STEPHEN OLIVER'S work is widely represented in New Zealand, USA, UK Ireland, Canada, South Africa, Australia etc. He lives in Sydney. Poems recently in Landfall, Poetry NZ and Takahe.
RICHARD REEVE: Studied literature at Otago University. Co-editor of Glottis , a new literary magazine. Has had work published widely in New Zealand including the the New Zealand Poetry Society's anthology, The Ordinary Magic, 1997.
DAVID BUCHANAN lives in Australia. Married to New Zealander and part of her 'whanau'. He is a musician, composer and playwright as well as a poet. Published widely in journals and anthologies. Won the Swan Gold outstanding playwright award in 1992.
BARRY SMITH is a New Zealand scientist who has had poems published in SPIN, Poetry NZ and Takahe.
JUDITH WOLFE lives in Dunedin, New Zealand. She is an artist and sculptor. She has exhibited widely throughout New Zealand and some of her works have been in travelling exhibitions overseas. Recent exhibitions at the Empire Cinema, guest artist at the Wanaka Art Group Exhibition, August 1997 and the Warbirds Over Wanaka air show exhibition, Easter, 1998.
